Doctor Ivo Robotnik, better known as his alias Doctor Eggman, is the world's greatest scientist, and his goal is to rule the world with his E-Series robots.

History[]

Early Life[]

Prior to wanting to rule the world, Eggman looked up to his grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik, wanting to become a great scientist like him. He became enemies with Sonic the Hedgehog, Amy Rose, Miles "Tails" Prower and Knuckles the Echidna. All of his plans were thwarted-- even building a robot in the image of Sonic.

The Ultimate Life Form[]

One day, Robotnik tried to conquer the world using his E-100 robots, the Egg Carrier, and the god of destruction, Chaos. However, Delta, Zeta and Epsilon were dumped out, Gamma went rouge, destroying his brothers, and Chaos turned against him. The Egg Carrier was sunk, and Perfect Chaos later destroyed his Egg Carrier 2, ruining his master plan.

However, Eggman found an old file in G.U.N.'s computers, that was created by Gerald. He found out about his granfather's "Ultimate Life Form" and broke into Prison Island using his new Egg Walker, eventually using the White Chaos Emerald to awaken it, when Sonic came out of the machine, trying to spoil his plans again. However, Eggman realized this was truly a different hedgehog. The hedgehog claimed his name was Shadow, and showed his power by destroying a Hot Shot. Eggman then realized this was the military's top-secret weapon. Shadow then told Eggman to bring more Chaos Emeralds to the Space Colony ARK, despite Eggman's protests.

Eggman came to a desert area, following a strange signal from the Master Emerald. He found Knuckles and a bat fighting over it. He stole it, but Knuckles shattered it, stopping him from escaping with it. Eggman eventually decided it didn't matter and returned to his Pyramid Cave base, where he saw a broadcast where Sonic had broken into a bank and stolen a Chaos Emerald. However, Eggman didn't believe this and rightly believed this was Shadow. On the ARK, Shadow showed Eggman the Eclipse Cannon and revealed that in order to reactivate it, they had to recover the seven Chaos Emeralds. Rouge the Bat then made a deal with him: tell him where the other Chaos Emeralds were while she handed over her Blue Chaos Emerald.

To Eggman's annoyance, he had to return to Prison Island, where they came up with a plan, Eggman would distract the guards while Rouge retrieved the Chaos Emeralds and Shadow set the island to explode. However, on their way, they ran into Amy, who mistook Shadow for Sonic, so Eggman attacked her. However, he was caught by Tails, who was fighting in his new Cyclone. However, Eggman let them go and sent a message to Shadow, telling him to get off the island before it blew, and they headed to the ARK, where Eggman demonstrated the Eclipse Cannon's power by blowing up half of the moon.

However, to fully reactivate it, they needed all seven Chaos Emeralds, and the last one was in the posession of Tails. They went back to Earth and Eggman attacked them with the Egg Golem. However, Sonic broke the resraining mechenism, which made the Egg Golem attack Eggman. He defeated it anyway, and then held Amy hostage on the ARK. He then killed Sonic, fighting against Tails. However, Tails beat him after Sonic asked him to do it, but Eggman stole the Chaos Emerald, implanting it in the Eclipse Cannon.

However, he was surprised when he realized that Gerald intended to kill everyone by making the ARK crash into the planet, making him realize his grandfather was not as good-intentioned as he thought. Sonic, who Eggman had not really killed due to him teleporting out of the capsule using Chaos Control, and Knuckles teamed up with Shadow to shut off the Chaos Emeralds, but the Biolizard, being the prototype of the ultimate life, used Chaos Control to warp onto the Eclipse Cannon and become one with it-- code-named the FinalHazard-- and kept pulling them toward the planet. Luckily, Sonic and Shadow used the Chaos Emeralds tobecome Super Sonic and Super Shadow, warping it back to it's former position, although Shadow fell to the Earth. However, Eggman found him and placed him in a capsule in one of his bases.

A Primary Anatagonist[]

Eggman later creates an array of ships called the Egg Fleet. He planned to use it to conquer the world, but Metal Sonic betrayed him, locking him up on the Final Fortress and using the Chaos Emeralds to take the form Neo Metal Sonic. Using the shape of Eggman, Metal Sonc took control of the Egg Fleet. To free himself, Eggman sent a message communicator to Team Chaotix and guides them around for most of the game, but they attack him when he is freed.

Eggman then reveals what happened when Metal Sonic transforms into Metal Madness via the data of Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Rose, Team Chaotix and Chaos via Froggy and Chocola. Eggman was suprised when he found out they had collected the seven Chaos Emeralds on their travels, but said their chances for victory were slim. Team Rose, Team Chaotix and Team Dark stalled for time until Team Sonic transformed into Team Super Sonic.

After Metal Overlord was destroyed, Eggman tried to get out of paying Team Chaotix as he agreed to, but they caught him and tried to get him, but it is unknown if they got their money. Some point after this, Eggman took Metal Sonic off Omega and reprogrammed him to be obedient.

The Black Invaders[]

Eggman set up the Cryptic Castle, Circus Park and Iron Jungle bases and surveyed the Black Arms' attack on Westopolis. Eventually, he realized that their battle would cause mass destruction and leave nothing left for him to conquer. He then sent his Egg Fleet against them and although it lost five battleships, he forced the Sky Troops to a jungle near Central City.

After this, he tried to destroy Shadow and Amy in his Egg Breaker, but failed, although Shadow helped him stop G.U.N. from destroying the Circus Park. Shadow was then told that he "had no past" and attacked him with the Egg Breaker, later forcing the Black Arms in Death Ruins into the Iron Jungle.

Eggman then lied to an opposing Shadow and Omega, saying that Shadow was a Shadow Android that had betrayed him and he tried to destroy them with his second Egg Breaker, but this was also destroyed. Eggman created a fake Red Chaos Emerald and used it to power his Egg Dealer, using it to fight Shadow aboard the ARK, although it was defeated and Shadow took it, believing it was a real one and he was guardian of the ARK, telling Eggman to leave and never return.

However, Eggman tells Shadow it is fake, and Shadow continues his path to take on the Blue Falcon. Later, he somehow gets aboard the Black Comet and tells Shadow not to give Black Doom the Chaos Emeralds. However, Doom takes the Chaos Emeralds and warps the Comet to the surface, freezing all but Shadow with a gas that paralizes them. However, Omega frees them from the gas and they escape before Shadow destroys the Black Comet with the Eclipse Cannon. However, when he asks if they'll give him the Chaos Emeralds, Knuckles chases him, thinking he'll be going after the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald again.

The Death Egg and Ultimate Gizoid[]

Later, Eggman discovers one of his grandfather's creations: a Gizoid. However, it does not do as he says and absorbs his Chaos Emerald, so he dumps it, having already used it's data to create a robot that does what he says. Eventually, it is found by Sonic, who names it Emerl and uses the Chaos Emeralds to unlock it's true power.

Throughout the game, Eggman has his Phis and Chaos Gamma try to retrieve Emerl and control it. However, it is revealed to make it stronger, when Emerl obtains all the Chaos Emeralds and becomes Ultimate Emerl, all the Phis are destroyed and Chaos Gamma is left useless. He then threatens to destroy the planet with his new Final Egg Blaster and Emerl ventures to his Death Egg.

However, when he is beaten, Eggman uses the Final Egg Blaster to destroy some stars, which overload Emerl and cause him to create a link with Eggman, as he planned. However, it is overloading and causes him to try to use the Final Egg Blaster to destroy Earth. Emerl then beats Eggman and destroys the Master Emerald, so Sonic destroys him.

Eggman later uses Emerl's data and hardware to create Gemerl, but when he retrieves all the Chaos Emeralds, Gemerl betrays him and uses them to achieve a super transformation. Super Sonic and Eggman then defeat Gemerl.

The Flames of Disaster[]

Eggman creates a new Egg Carrier and is Sonic's main villain, where he kidnaps Elise, thinking he can use the Chaos Emeralds to revive the Flames of Disaster Iblis. He kidnaps Elise four times, frees Mephiles, tells Shadow to bring Mephiles to him and then forces Elise to work with him by threatening to bomb and destroy Soleanna.

However, at the end, when Eggman finds the Red Chaos Emerald, the Egg Carrier's engines malfunction for some reason and they crash, killing them both and releasing Iblis. This was assumed to be Sonic's work, but he had disappeared shortly after this. He had gone through time, where he rescued Elise and defeated the Egg Wyvern, with all of them escaping.

Eggman crashes and finds the Red Chaos Emerald, only for it to start glowing and send him into The End of the World. Eggman later aids them by using tracking devices in his glasses to find the Chaos Emeralds.

Eviller Than Thou Descendant[]

Eggman Nega, a descendant of Eggman, comes to the past to change his destiny by ersing Eggman's failures, and thus reprograms Metal Sonic to aid him and imposers Eggman, taking over his Badniks. Eggman leaves a message for Shadow, which he finds before he is turned into a card. Eggman Nega imposers Eggman throughout the game and brings Onyx Island into the past, until Shadow turns him back into the flesh and he helps them get to the Meteor Base. After this, Eggman reprograms Metal Sonic to be obedient AGAIN.

He then has Metal Sonic hunt Shadow down to help defeat Eggman Nega again. He guides them through a speaker in Metal Sonic, and later tells Shadow of the switch to close the portal to the Chaotic Inferno Zone in person. He then watches as Shadow and Metal Sonic defeat the Ifrit.

Racing with the Riders[]

Eggman tricks the Babylon Rouges into competing in his EX World Grand Prix so he can retrieve all the Chaos Emeralds and uses them to revive Babylon Garden. He also plans on stealing the treasure of Babylon, which is presumed to be wings that allow anyone who holds it to rule the world. Once Jet does this, he takes the control box and kidnaps Amy, retreating to the Babylon Garden, only for the box to be stolen by Sonic. After they defeat the Babylon Guardian, he arrives to steal it, only for it to be revealed to be a Magic Carpet. Thinking it is just a plain old carpet, Eggman faints.

Meteor Hunt[]

Eggman later finds the Ark of the Cosmos in the Dark Desert. He then forms the company MeteoTech, using the Ark as a power source for his Mother Computer. However, when SCR-HD get ahold of another Ark, the robots go beserk. Eggman is unable to control the Mother Computer remotly, even telling Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Jet and Wave he had nothing to do with it until revealing what he knew.

Later, he takes all the Arks of the Cosmos collected by the Babylon Rouge and takes them to Crimson Tower, trying to use them to build Eggmanland. However, Sonic takes the Arks and disables his program, when SCR-HD comes in, having a strong magnetic pulse forcibly engaged the program in the robot's buffer. He brings all the Arks to Babylon Garden, transforming it into the Astral Babylon and creating a black hole. Eggman then realizes the world is doomed and flees.

Racing for Data[]

Eggman later imposers a king called King Doc of a fictional town called Toreggania. He hosts a second World Grand Prix, using his E-10000 to copy the data of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Vector, Shadow, Rouge, Jet, Wave and Storm the Albatross. However, Metal Sonic once again betrays Eggman and imposers a blue E-10000 robot called E-10000B and keeping the data for himself while he passes fake info onto Eggman, causing him to lose.

Pretending to be Good to be Evil[]

Eggman constructs an interstellar amusement park and steals the planets Sweet Mountain, Starlight Carnival, Planet Wisp, Aquarium Park, and Asteroid Coaster around the Tropical Resort, pretending to be making up for his past encounters while he is actually using it to steal some Wisps and use their energy to form a mind-control cannon. Sonic destroys all his generators, but Eggman gathers enough energy to fire his cannon, but the arm of his defeated Rotatatron causes it to backfire and destroy the amusement park, sending Eggman and his assistants Orbot and Cubots into space.

Messing Up The Past[]

After this, Eggman finds a strange time-erasing force and uses it's power to undo his previous mistakes. However, he needed the help of someone as smart as he is, so he kidnapped his past self after it was defeated by Classic Sonic in the Death Egg Robot, and thus sucks the timelines Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant, Sky Sanctuary, Speed Highway, City Escape, Seaside Hill, Soleanna, Rooftop Run, Planet Wisp, Stardust Speedway, Death Egg, Final Rush and Station Square into the White Space, restoring Stardust Speedway to the Bad Future, and Soleanna to Crisis City, and he then attacks Modern Sonic in Eggmanland in the Egg Dragoon.

He failed at this, and thus both Eggmen used the Time Eater to face both Classic and Modern Sonic, but were defeated by Classic and Modern Super Sonic. The Time Eater was destroyed and they were left trapped in the White Space.

Personality[]

Eggman is quite short tempered, as in Sonic Unleashed, where his assistant Ergo insulted him and he slapped his head. Eggman is also selfish, when he supposedly killed millions by releasing a death laser to awaken Dark Gaia early and later in Sonic the Hedgehog when he released an array of missiles at Sonic and Elise, unconcerned of who could get killed in the crossfire.

Relationships[]

Maria Robotnik[]

It is unknown is Eggman ever had feelings for his late cousin Maria Robotnik, or how he felt when she was killed by G.U.N., but he was probably born after she died.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Sonic and Eggman are main enemies. Sonic was the one who made up Robotnik's nickname "Eggman" due to the Egg in his mechas. They are enemies for most games, but work together good, as in Sonic Adventure 2, when they work together to save Earth, when they work together to defeat Gemerl and Eggman helps revive Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog.

Shadow the Hedgehog[]

Shadow is one of Eggman's allies. Once he freed Shadow from suspended animation on Prison Island, he said he would grand Eggman a wish, but in reality he was guiding him the the Eclipse Cannon and the world's destruction.

After this, Eggman attacks Shadow violently, and is a minor villain in his story in Sonic the Hedgehog. In that same game, Eggman attacked him and Rouge to retrieve the Scepter of Darkness, later trying to convince Shadow to bring Mephiles to him.

However, in Shadow the Hedgehog, Eggman tries to convince Shadow to join him, even trying to trick him into believeing he was a Shadow Android. In Sonic Rivals 1 and 2, Shadow works with Eggman.

Rouge the Bat[]

Rouge was Eggman's ally in the Dark Story of Sonic Adventure 2, but it was later revealed that this was just to get information about Project: Shadow to the President. They then become enemies thoughout the next games.

Amy Rose[]

Amy is one of Eggman's foes, as she is an ally of Sonic. He tries to kill her in Sonic Adventure 2, and in that same game, he holds her prisoner to get Sonic to him.

They work together in Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog, to stop the ARK from crashing into Earth, to stop the Black Arms(but were left helpless by Black Doom's gas) and then to resurrect Sonic. They are enemies once again in Sonic Generations.

Miles "Tails" Prower[]

Miles is also one of Eggman's foes, as he is Sonic's best friend. In Sonic Adventure 2, Tails is Eggman's main rival, as their gameplay is the same. They fight in boss fights twice, and eventually destroy their mechs. However, Eggman sneaks away with the Yellow Chaos Emerald. They do work together in Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Team Chaotix[]

They only play fair once, where Eggman thirsly hires them to get him out of a detention cell on the Final Fortress in Sonic Heroes. In Shadow the Hedgehog, Vector battles the Egg Dealer and Espio fights the Egg Breaker with Shadow.

Metal Sonic[]

Metal Sonic is Eggman's greatest creation, which he created for the sole purpose of destroying Sonic. However, after Metal betrayed Eggman and locked him in the Final Fortress, he reprogrammed him to be obedient. Metal turned on Eggman again when Eggman Nega reprogrammed him, but after he was defeated by Shadow, Eggman restored his original programming, having him hunt Shadow down and work with him as a communicator. Eggman is then double-crossed by Metal AGAIN when he breaks free from his control to fight Sonic in Sonic Free Riders.

Elise[]

Eggman doesn't favour Elise, but he kidnaps her in hopes that he can revive the Flames of Disaster. First, he takes her when Sonic is distracted by his Egg Gunners. Then, he snatches her while he is at Silver's mercy. Then he waits for her at her palace. Then, while Sonic is immobilized by Silver, he grabs her while he is helpless. After that, he forces her to co-operate with him by threatening to destroy Soleanna. However, after the events are erased, he never kidnapped her and doesn't show up at the new timeline.

Eggman Nega[]

Eggman Nega's is Eggman's main rival and enemy, which they've been ever since Eggman Nega turned Eggman into a card. Eggman helps Shadow and Silver reach the Meteor Base Zone to defeat him and later guides Shadow and Metal Sonic to chase Eggman Nega down and reveal his true identity.

Sonic X[]

In Sonic X, Eggman is from Chris' world, but was somehow flung into Sonic's world. He comes back in an accident with Chaos Control and thus this was where he awakened Shadow. He uses several flying fortresses, starting with the E-40 Egg Fortress, which was built in his secret base before it was destroyed. He then used the Egg Fort II as his headquaters up until it was destroyed by Super Sonic. He used the Egg Carrier and Egg Carrier 2 in the same way he did in the games. He later joins their wrecks together to form the Grand Egg Imperial, returning to Sonic's world when they learned they were fusing together.

In the wars against the Meterax, Eggman uses his Crimson Egg to venture around the galaxy and retrieve the Chaos Emeralds. After defeating Final Nova, Eggman helps Chris go home and declares war on Sonic and his friends.
